Lecture 14 (Calculus) Newton’s Method and Antiderivatives

Why do we need Newton's method at all, rather than just solving f(x) = 0 directly?

1. A.Because Newton's method always gives the exact root, while algebra only approximates it
2. B.Because no polynomial of degree 5 or higher has any real roots that can be computed
3. C.Because no general solution formula exists for polynomials of degree 5 or higher, and even when one exists it can be impractically messy
